Indicators giving confusing signals
Excerpt from: Day trading newsletter Issue No. 009

What can I do if my indicators are giving confusing signals ?

From: Sukhen M.

Hi, I want to get in to margin trading in ForEx and I want to day trade. I have been watching some of the indicators like RSI and Slow SI. I am getting more and more confused that the signals mismatch many times. Even if they match, price follows sometimes other direction. How should I go about it to get the best prediction? I am ready to change and use some other indicator(s). In fact, I am not really bothered about charting also (I am using it just as I don't have any other tool available - at least I don't know of.) I want to make money. If it's not charting, that's also OK, please suggest me if there's any other alternative way.

Thanks,
Sukhen M.

Sukhen,

It's not uncommon for people to get confused when using too many indicators. I strongly believe in keeping it simple. The best approach is too find a few indicators at most that suit your style and get to know them inside and out. Too many indicators can lead to too many conflicting signals and that easily leads to indecision and therefore lack of action and loss of confidence.
